New Beginning offers a one-of-a-kind experience, a mesmerising journey through time and nature, using cutting-edge technologies. With multidimensional video projections by Labmeta, a dramatic sound score, and lyrical prose recorded by Michelle Newell, this immersive theatre production draws us into the depths of a magical forest where both the past and the possible future of our planet unfolds. As the hidden wonders of our natural environment and the impending dangers it faces materialise, we are invited to reflect on the intricate interconnection between humanity and nature. Helmed by award-winning UK artist David Shearing of the Variable Matter collective, this collaborative endeavour challenges conventional theatrical paradigms, exploring the nexus of artistry and stagecraft. Composer James Bulley’s evocative musical composition and Zakiya McKenzie’s poetic narrative add depth to the immersive experience, while Joshua Gadsby’s luminous tapestry guides audiences through an emotive voyage of light and sound. Embracing a departure from traditional theatre, New Beginning is a moving, sensory encounter re-created with students from Luxembourg, making it highly sustainable as only the director will travel.
